The cost of this vehicle extends far beyond an ordinary repair bill. Engine-related problems have resulted in approximately $5,500 in initial expenses, followed by another $7,700 in repairs and related work. That is more than $13,000 connected to the engine alone—money that should never have been necessary after purchasing a vehicle represented as inspected, dependable, and ready for the road.
The transmission created another major financial burden. Repairs totaled approximately $8,300, in addition to roughly $700 in earlier service, diagnosis, and attempted corrective work. Combined with the engine expenses, the documented mechanical costs have already exceeded $22,000. These figures do not include routine maintenance, normal ownership expenses, or upgrades. They represent extraordinary costs required to address serious problems with the truck.
The truck’s repeated failures also caused substantial business losses. As a self-employed business owner, I depend on reliable transportation to reach customers, transport equipment, and complete scheduled work. Every breakdown, repair appointment, and day without the truck created lost working hours, disrupted appointments, reduced revenue, and damaged customer confidence. The reputational harm is difficult to calculate precisely, but the effect is real: customers remember missed appointments and service disruptions, even when the underlying vehicle failure was outside my control.
Because the truck could not be relied upon, I was forced to purchase a Fiat 124 Spider simply to keep working and maintain basic transportation. That purchase added another vehicle payment, insurance costs, financing charges, registration expenses, and thousands of unnecessary miles to a vehicle that was never intended to replace a work truck. The true cost is therefore not limited to repair invoices. It includes the engine, the transmission, lost income, business disruption, reputational damage, and the purchase and continued ownership of a second vehicle—all resulting from a truck that should have been dependable from the beginning.
